Baseflow and Stormflow Zinc Loads in a Small Agricultural River Catchment Influenced by an Industrial Area

چکیده

A stringent environmental quality standard for zinc (Zn) has been enacted by regulators because of its toxicity to aquatic life. This study’s objective was evaluate the variability Zn concentrations and fluxes in baseflow stormflow estimate contribution from point non-point sources. By using high-resolution temporal sampling, suspended solids (SS), iron (Fe), were measured a small agricultural river catchment. Fe, as natural source, evaluated end member mixing analysis (EMMA) identify source apportionment (point non-point). The results indicate that baseflow, mainly originated sources possibly discharged manufacturing industries. contrast, (diffuse sources) responsible extremely high SS, levels stormflow. In addition, discharge during 93 times higher than baseflow. According EMMA, approximately 74% River management can be improved if are adequately treated. During storm event, it is also important control particulate released into river.

Stormflow-dominated loads of faecal pollution from an intensively dairy-farmed catchment.

Rainstorms can flush large amounts of faecal pollution from land sources into water bodies, threatening, particularly, contact recreation and bivalve shellfish harvest. We quantified the faecal pollution loads of stormflows in the Toenepi Stream, draining a catchment in intensive dairy-farming (Waikato Region, New Zealand). In this stream, as is typical, E. coli concentration peaks well ahead o...

A stormflow/baseflow comparison of dissolved organic matter concentrations and bioavailability in an Appalachian stream

Patterns of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and nitrogen (DON) delivery were compared between times of stormflow and baseflow in Paine Run, an Appalachian stream draining a 12.4 km2 forested catchment in the Shenandoah National Park (SNP), Virginia. The potential in-stream ecological impact of altered concentrations and/or chemical composition of DOM during storms also was examined, using standa...

Segmenting tourism in rural area by emphasizing on motivational factors: Case study of Kolan river catchment area

This research is conducted on tourist segmentation in the touristy catchment area of Kolan river in Malayer Township. The statistical population is tourists who travel to the area for recreation, tourism and leisure. The research tool is a self-administrated questionnaire. By the method of Simple random sampling we collected a total of 200 questionnaires of tourists in the study area. Descripti...

Impacts of recent climate change on trends in baseflow and stormflow in United States watersheds

Characterizing the impacts of climatic change on hydrologic processes is critical for managing freshwater systems. Specifically, there is a need to evaluate how the two major components of streamflow, baseflow and stormflow, have responded to recent trends in climate. We derive baseflow and stormflow for 674 sites throughout the United States from 1980 to 2010 to examine their associations with...
